| Common Questions for Summer Camp | ||||||
What is the weather like? Our temperature during the summer can get hot during the day. But may get cool at night. We suggest mainly shorts and t-shirts but you will also want to throw in a pair of jeans, a sweatshirt and rain gear. |
What if my child has a food allergy or a special diet request? Food allergies are a top concern for our Kitchen Supervisor. We will do everything possible to keep your child safe. We will do our best to accomodate special food requests also, but we may require you to provide alternative meals for your child. If you have a food allergy or request (other than basic vegetarian) please contact us at least 2 weeks prior to your camper arriving. |
Does my child need spending money? Your child does not have to bring any extra money, but we will have a Camp Cantina available to the kids every day. We sell items such as t-shirts, sweatshirts, jewelry, healthy snacks, juices, caffine free sodas, souvenirs, etc. If you would like to give your child money for the cantina, we suggest anywhere from $5-30. All money will be turned in at the beginning of camp and any change will be returned when they leave. |
Does my child need a physical? Yes, all kids who attend camp have to have a physical by a doctor within 24 monthes of their arrival to camp. If they arrive without a legitimate physical, your camper will be sent home. Please make sure you have this completed! |
What if I have medicine to turn in? All medicine must be in the original packages. You will bring any medicine you will want your camper to take in a large ziplock bag labeled with the campers name. |
How are the cabins assigned? Cabins are assigned based on gender and age. Each cabin will hold 2 groups, each group has 8 children. Each group is assigned to a counselor who is also in the cabin. Counselors have their own area in the cabin to help ensure privacy and independence in the campers. |
When are check in & check-out? Check-in is Sunday between 2-4pm. Check-out is Friday for all week long camps. |
Shorter camps (Cloverbud & Explorer) are either Sunday or Wednesday. We close camp with a slideshow and awards starting at 10am. Parents arrive between 9:15-10am to fill out pick-up paperwork.. |
How are activities decided? Some activities are already scheduled so that each camper gets a chance to try them or their camp has a focus. But a portion of the schedule is left open so that the campers get to help plan it, we call that "kids planning". The first night the cabins get together the will brainstorm all the activities they want to do or try. That night the Head Counselors will take those ideas and make schedules that incorporate as many of the ideas as possible. These give the campers some power over their camp experience and also teaches them about living cooperatively in a wilderness community. |
